I first met Willy Ronis in 1984 in Arles during the photo festival there. It was the beginning of a long friendship. Willy was an excellent friend, in particular to younger photographers. We often went to visit him at his apartment (and once, he came down to stay with us in our country home in the Drôme). The first photo was taken on his little kitchen balcony in Paris where we had had a most pleasant lunch together. Conversations with Willy were always meaningful and inspiring. I miss our talks.
